IDSworks Modular Base plate and Grip with LENS STAND for Leica M11 series

Main features for this series is the LENS STAND function

IDS modular grip is designed dedicated for Leica M11 camera (digital M) while at the same time solve some of the issues which may concerns some photographers. The first product of this LENS STAND series is for M11 series of cameras (M11 / M11M / M11-D ... etc).

Depending on the popularity we will consider making for other past M camera soon.

Quick access to battery releasing lever via a on grip releasing couping design. It eliminates the need of openning up rubber flip doors and preventing it from getting into the way when loading battery and SD card.

Metal flip door were designed to cover the USB port from dust and water

Grip was designed so that no hard surface will make direct contact with the bottom of the camera to prevent scratches.

This product have two versions, with grip and without grip.

We have got some request from our other product it seems like some Leica users just don't want a grip but prefer all the other functions so we are introduction both options. The design of the base plate between with grip and without grip is differently.

With grip version will have a protrution at the bottom to connect with the grip support and grip pad while without grip version is totally flushed and you cannot add a grip to it. So please select carefully.

As M11 have no origional bottom plate to be removed from the camera and the battery needs space (height) to be pop out and we have already minimzed the height required.

Aside from the build-in ARCA dovetail features, the most important function in this version is the built in LENS STAND which totally eliminate camera tiping when using heavy lens.

We have this idea long time ago but due to cost we drop this idea a few years back while keeping the screw thread position where the pivot of the stand located for a function which we might also bring up further down the road.

CNC machining is an expensive process as the machine time on CNC work banch is the main cost for this kind of production (That is why there are many products out there has only one part with no battery door). Increasing in number of parts to create one complete product will increase the total cost. Considering we have already got 7 parts to make your standard modular grip for M11 we decided not to include this function as we think it wasn't a must have function. To include this function it will require to make 3 more parts and we also need to increase machine time to milled out more area to reduce weight to it's minimum.

Only 6g is added to our origional modular grip with this new function added.

The LENS STAND has 3 different click stop at different positions and it can tug back at flush position without affecting the use of the ARCA dovetail or installing our Lens Down bracket.

It can withstand the tiping even for Leica 75mm 1.4 / 90mm 2.0 with full barrel extended.

For 135mm 2.8 it will still tip forward as the center weight of the lens is just too far out....

Certain Lens from Leica when installed on LEICA camera body will tip the camera forward causing the lens contacting the table. It was't a problem for me at all as I have trained myself to place my camera strip under the lens when I put my camera down. Doing that is actually a good practice as your camera strip will not be hanging off the table and get dragged down accidentally. This is why we didn't introduce this before.

Untill recently some of our loyal customer asking us to include this function so we finally decided to dig out our old drawing and bring this version out and to provide a no grip version for those who had been asking for a no grip look.

Most importanly..... in this version we are also making this product in 4 different colors to match with different Color of LEICA M11.

In this version we are also making it in BLACK / SILVER / GRAY and GREEN!

(Note: Color are not an exact match due to a different surface finish process but to my eyes they are "good enough")

On base ARCA dovetail design intergration allows quick loading on ARCA system

The design of the grip provides a very convient vertical shooting experience. The shape of the grip pad with 3D variable curves allow different variation in holding the camera horizontally and vertically at eye level, waist level as well as at really low angle. Combining your experience in zone focusing as well as distant judging skills, It allows you to get your orientation right and having more chances of getting that shot of the moment.

During our development, we perfected our anodizing process to achieve this matte finish by carefully selecting materials, controlling temperatures, and using specific chemical mix in production. The result is a finish that resembles the iconic look of a modern Leica M camera finish. Our anodizing factory charge us by sets, unlike other that charges on total kilogram of products to be anodized.

Grip pad selections

Since this product required two more CNC parts we would like to keep the price down as much as possible therefore we will include the TPE material grip pad as standard so that the price can be kept down.

TPE is a soft material (comfortable) with a hard plastic supporting ensapsulated inside. This material does have it's down side as it might age over time but you can always get them cheaply from us as we have created injection mold for mass production.

However, If you wish to used our different variation of grip pads it is also possible!

After you select you version of the grip select the optional grip pad and we can swrap the Grip pad to your liking before shipping!

(Note: If you do want to order the grip pad at a different time, (i.e. on a seperate order) please do notify me that your new grip pad order is to replace the TPE grip and a seperate grip supporting is needed!)

Fiber Glass composite (G10)

This is a new material we created for two purpose. Many customers likes black but before we only have African black wood and black aluminum. Some found wood rather “old school" and forced to select black matt aluminum but aluminum grip pad is heavy (25g) so we have now this Fiber glass composite for your selection at only 11 grams. It is light, sturdy and have a grid patten on it. This material is commonly use on knife handles.

Walnut (5g)

This wood is very light (5g) but it is indeed softer because of its density.

Desert iron wood from Africa (11g)

This wood has better color then Walnut and almost the same density as the African black wood.

African Black wood (11g)

This wood has a high density and also beautiful wood grain.

Metallic gray aluminum (25g)

Milled on 3 axial CNC and anodized with a metallic gray finish
